Governor Polis Provides Update on State Response to COVID-19, Discusses Support for Restaurants

Governor Jared Polis on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 provided an update on Colorado’s response to COVID-19 and discussed ways to support local restaurants during this challenging time.

The Governor was joined by Sonia Riggs, President and CEO of the Colorado Restaurant Association, Aileen Reilly, owner of Beast + Bottle and Coperta, and Alice Jackson, President of Xcel Energy Colorado to discuss the impacts COVID-19 has had on the restaurant industry and what Coloradans can do to support local restaurants. Reilly discussed how her company is working to keep customers and workers safe and overcome challenges posed by the pandemic. Gov. Polis also joined Reilly in support of the federal Restaurant Act to provide assistance to the industry.

  1. Unreal. 1. We are only lower in testing than Puerto Rico and still are exceeding 1000 cases a day. The positivity rate is well beyond what the CDC deems acceptable for an open economy. Still, Polis won’t put health of people first and his precious hospitlity industry second. The CDC just weeks ago released a statement indicating the vast majority of new infections were linked to people who were recently eating at restaurants.

  2. There is NO difference between a tent outdoors in winter and an indoor restaurant space. Please stop lying. Finally, the epidemiology is clear. The pertinent studies show 12 feet is the minimal safe indoor distance, not six feet. Hence the Vice Presidential debaters were 12 feet apart. Polis, you are inviting another closure, like New York City. Your restaurants and bars are doomed. Let it happen and save lives.
