I joined CDC in 2008, a childhood dream of mine after watching the evening news, and hearing CDC reports on disease outbreaks and chronic disease trends. Growing up in rural Alabama, I witnessed public health challenges firsthand, including chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
